Nationals Sign Their Second Chosen One. Melo Out of Denver? Farve's in Minnesota, for Now.

Bryce Harper
The last two years the Washington Nationals have had the number 1 pick in the draft, and late last night they have come to terms with their latest, Bryce Harper. While Harper didn't quite get the payday Strasburg received, he will be taking home 10 million dollars over the next 5 years, nothing to be mad about in my book. Harper is the Las Vegas junior college slugger who put up staggering numbers that included a .443 batting average, 31 homers, and 98 RBI's. Harper will change from his natural position of catcher to right field, this is a calculated move to advance him quickly through the minor leagues and in to the majors. It generally takes longer to develop a catcher than an outfielder and the Nationals want some of Harper's production ASAP. With these last two picks in the draft, in a few years the Nationals will move from cellar dwellers to a force to be reckoned with in the NL East and possibly in the postseason. I'm glad to see this work out for Harper because he took a huge risk and dropped out of high school, earned his G.E.D., all so he could be eligible for the 2010 Draft. A risk most parents wouldn't let there kids take, but when there is millions of dollars at stake, have at it.

Carmelo Anthony
It  has been reported that Carmelo Anthony, the Denver Nuggets superstar is on the fast track out of Denver. The perennial All-Star is expected to be shipped to New York during the summer of 2011. These reports come after Anthony failed to sign his 65 million over 3 year extension offer from the Nuggets and joking from Hornets star Chris Paul at Anthony's wedding that he and Anthony will join Stoudemire in New York to form their own Big 3. Nothing is set in stone yet but all signs point to a LeBron like summer for Melo. There is one exception though, and its a big one. The owners and NBA players association have yet to come to terms for a new collective bargaining agreement. The current agreement ends after the 2010-11 season. This could leave Anthony high dry and potentially missing out on millions. In my opinion his decision to stay or leave will rest heavily on whether his team beats the Lakers in the playoffs and makes it to the Finals. His Nuggets team is more than capable of beating Kobe and the Lakers, with Coach Karl back at the helm after battling cancer. If they somehow fail to beat the Lakers you will see Melo testing the market in 2011. Especially after seeing LeBron surround himself with other superstars from their draft class. Dont forget Melo was the number 2 pick in that talented 2003 draft.

Brett Favre
If your best chance to win a Superbowl was in BFE Mississippi would you travel there to get it? Well that's exactly what Jared Allen, Steve Hutchinson, and Ryan Longwell of the Minnesota Vikings did. The three players skipped out on Tuesday practice and traveled to Hattiesburg, MS to get their iron man of a QB Brett Favre. Whatever they said to Favre must have worked because earlier today Favre touch down in Minnesota and reported to the Vikings training facility. While nothing is concrete at the moment all signs point to Favre returning for his 20th season, yes his 20th season. The QB's return has been up in the air since his last game with the Vikings against the Saints when he damaged his left ankle. Unlike last summer his return this summer has hinged on whether or not he thought his banged up ankle could hold up for an entire NFL season. Well his confidence in his ankle must be high if he's even in the state of Minnesota.  A lot of people accused Favre of being a distraction to the team with his hold antics. But you better believe if I was considering a 20th season of professional football I would take as much time as I deemed necessary.

Welcome

Three-N-Out serves one purpose. To bring you the three biggest stories in sports of the day. The meat and potatoes if you will of the sports day with some personal commentary as dessert. Plain and simple. There wont be any posts about a quarterback thinking about going to the doctor, or a Ryder Cup captain thinking about his selections unless Jim Gray goes and tells that Cpt. you will pay for lying. Three-N-Out brings you what you want. Now who said going Three-N-Out was a bad thing.
